Why Choose
Energy Efficiency?
Energy efficiency offers homeowners and renters the opportunity to lower energy costs, improve comfort, and contribute to a cleaner future.
Here’s how:
-
Lower Energy Bills:
By using less energy, you reduce monthly costs. Proper insulation, efficient heating systems, and air sealing prevent energy waste and help you save.
-
Enhanced Comfort & Health:
Energy upgrades reduce drafts, regulate temperature, and improve indoor air quality. They can also control moisture to prevent mold growth and allergens.
-
Climate Action:
Using less energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions, helping Rhode Island combat climate change while improving the quality of life for its residents.
Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQs)
Yes! The energy assessment is no-cost for all Rhode Island residents. Depending on your household income, you may qualify for additional no-cost energy-saving upgrades such as insulation, air sealing, and energy-efficient appliances. These programs are funded by the energy-efficiency charge on all customers’ gas and electric bills, in accordance with Rhode Island law.
Even if you don’t meet income eligibility, there are still rebates and incentives available to help make energy-efficient upgrades more affordable. Learn more about these options during your free home energy assessment.
Renters can benefit from energy efficiency upgrades too! While some improvements require landlord approval (like insulation or heating system upgrades), renters can still take advantage of appliance upgrades and smaller energy-saving improvements.
Your immigration status will not disqualify you from receiving energy-saving upgrades. The goal is to help all Rhode Islanders access the benefits of energy efficiency.
