Energy Resources for Educators

Educators can have a significant impact on the minds of the future. The Energy Efficiency Council sponsored the development of the following resources designed to help educators of all kinds teach and engage students on energy related topics including energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate science, and energy equity.

"Energy, Climate, and You" K-12 Curriculum

The “Energy, Climate, and You” curriculum was developed for Rhode Island teachers and students by The National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project in partnership with the Rhode Island Energy Efficiency Council, the Rhode Island Department of Health Climate Change Program. This multidisciplinary unit introduces students to energy consumption, energy efficiency, conservation and energy burden in Rhode Island, and how energy use can impact the climate and the health of Rhode Islanders.

The following guides are available for free on the NEED website. Hands-on materials can be purchased by contacting NEED.

"A Teacher's Guide to Energy" Slides

This series of PowerPoint presentations was created by GBRI to help guide educators through an energy-focused lesson plan that can be modified to suit student needs. Building on The NEED Project's "Energy, Climate, and You" curriculum, these lessons aim to provide a general understanding of energy and its implications, and focus on the State of Rhode Island at many points.

Based in NYC, with a presence around the world, GBRI is a privately-owned, online gamified education platform, with a mission to make sustainability resources affordable and accessible to everyone across the globe.
